Netflix at E3: What could they be up to?

When Netflix first began back in 1998, my family and I would excitedly open our little red envelopes every week and watch the DVDs that came with them, most of which had been sitting in our queue for months. Oftentimes, my mom wouldn’t look at what was sent. I think we all enjoyed the surprise. It was fresh, new, and exciting.

As fun as that was, it was even more exciting once they launched streaming services. Before, I would only have to walk to my mailbox; now I didn’t even have to go outside! Netflix really got me.

Then came the Netflix Originals, which have given us plenty of hits (or misses) to try out while allowing our favorite streaming service and production companies to spread their creative wings. Titles like Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, Fuller House, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (to name a few) have become massively popular, with a fanbase that loves the fact that they can binge watch a brand new season in one night.

More recently, Netflix went even further with their creativity by introducing us to interactive content. One interactive show in particular, Bear Grylls’ You vs. Wild, gives you the option to choose your own adventure, allowing you to… well, make Bear do some pretty wild things.

Over the years, Netflix has truly proved its worth and shows no fear of innovation, or its competition with Amazon or Hulu. They have made their mark in entertainment, and with their recent announcement, are proving they’ve got even more up their sleeve.

Netflix revealed on Twitter on Monday that it would be hosting a panel at E3 in June. What in the world are they doing mingling with the video game industry, you ask? Well, they’re not giving that away just yet.

The NX on Netflix Twitter account, which is the primary go-to for Netflix’s sci-fi and fantasy titles, tweeted very sneakily at E3.

Netflix went on to mention its upcoming Stranger Things game releasing on the Nintendo Switch on July 4th with its season 3 debut, but noted there may be more than that on the horizon.

Of course there’s the upcoming @Stranger_Things game but hmmmmm… there’s definitely more to come! pic.twitter.com/UFBUCAs7Qr— NX (@NXOnNetflix) May 13, 2019

So with the knowledge that Netflix is now dipping its feet in the video game pool, it begs the question: are they only going to make their existing original shows into video games, or will they be creating new content specifically for video games? OR will they be opening their own Steam/Origin-like service for video games? It’s tough to say, but I’m definitely intrigued.

Is there another Netflix Original you’d like to see as a game? Do you think the video game industry is going to welcome Netflix warmly, or will this be a flop?

2019 Plans

Hi, everyone. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate, and happy Tuesday to all. (I wrote this yesterday and had issues with posting so happy Wednesday to all now!)

It goes without saying that it’s been an extremely long time since I updated this blog. I could go over the multitude of reasons why… or I could just talk about what I would like to do going forward. I think I’d rather do the latter, mostly because like… that would be a lot ok, haha.

I don’t know how many people still follow The Creeper Legacy, or Sims stories at all (I hope it’s still a great and thriving community!). I’m very much out of the loop at this point, but if you’re here reading this right now I want to thank you for lending your support through all of these years. I still love playing Sims games and games in general and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing this time with you, as sporadic as I’ve been with updates.

Starting in January 2019 I want to update this blog more regularly, but I want to do more with it. I want to expand… all things. I want this blog to be a place to share not only the love of The Sims 3, but the whole Sims franchise, other video games, as well as share personal stories and thoughts with all of you. I want it to be a place of fun and honesty, laughs and real talk, nerdiness and freedom.

I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I know changing types of content can be annoying, so I want to warn you all beforehand. If you don’t like this sort of content – the kind where you never really know what will be posted next, with Sims series and one shot posts mixed together – I completely understand and will take no offense if you decide to unfollow. You came for Sims 3 things, after all. If you enjoy various video game content and random anecdotes dotted with fictional storytelling, then feel free to stick around.

I hope you join me for the happy and exciting things I have planned, but if you’d rather not, I leave you with a heartfelt goodbye and a sincere thank you for all of your support <3 I really hope you’re all doing amazingly and I can’t wait to catch up with you all.

Take care, and see you again soon!

there’s a snake in mah boot, and other unrelated things to that

Oops, spent a month marathon watching all 8 seasons of Supernatural. Netflix is a blessing and a curse. Update coming soon!

(Also sidenote: I don’t think I’ll be getting Into the Future until I get a new computer, it’s not tempting me enough to risk my poor overworked laptop)

In the meantime, how are you? What r da haps? Anything new going on?

Oh… Oh hi!

So… wow, what a year it’s been. It seems like I’m doomed to write this legacy for the rest of my life LOL.

The good news is I’m alive and doing well and have been missing the crap out of Simming. The bad news is that, despite having moved eons ago (okay, it was only 9 months but that’s basically forever), my beautiful computer has still not been shipped. I know, I know, THE HORROR.

The kind-of-good-but-not-really news is that I discovered I can still play the game on my laptop, only it’s definitely not like it was. I can’t have much (or really any) CC and the graphics aren’t amazing by far. Also I don’t have any of my Creeper or Fayte files because my external hard drive, the one thing I DO have, was ruined. So there’s that.

But all that aside, I have a plan to overcome these obstacles. I was considering perhaps downloading Peaches Honeyblossom (and a few other Creepers, thank goodness I uploaded them), finding her a new spouse, and continuing the legacy that way. What do you think? If anyone out there can hear me, that is. Should I just keep on truckin’?
